Pyramid greenhouse 2.0

Finally got around to fixing the greenhouse! The weather here in Ontario has been stubbornly cold this year – summer just doesn’t want to show up. We’ve only had a handful of truly warm, sunny days so far. Makes you wonder about that whole global warming thing… I’ll be curious to see the average summer temperature come fall; I ‘m sure it’ll be well below average making it global cooling instead.

Anyway, the greenhouse was a wreck when I got back from my two years in Mexico. The plastic film was shredded and the wooden frame had rotted through. Originally, I’d just temporarily used 6 mil plastic, but it ended up being permanent. This time, I wanted something better. I picked up a bunch of 2x4s locally and ordered polycarbonate panels from Amazon.

Demolition required some care because I wanted to save the pyramid structure – it was tricky to build and install originally, and thankfully, it’s still in great shape. My approach was to remove and replace each of the 2×4 beams one by one, leaving the pyramid untouched. I was working solo and focused, so I didn’t take any progress pics, but here are some photos showing the ‘before’ and the ‘after’ results.
